Snow and Halloween

H-ello. So it snowed here and now its all going away slowly. Theres still abit of it left on the ground but I want it to snow again. I love it when the snow first falls down and leaves everything so pretty and white.

Anyways, Happy Halloween!

Time to dress up and trick or treat.

I'm back!

Hi. So I had the honor of attending Teen Vogue Fashion University 2011. I really enjoyed going and learing about how the designers made it in the industry. I was able to take classes with Michael Kors, Teen Vogue Editors, Chris Benz, and etc. It was a wonderful experience and opened my eyes to see that if your passionate about something you can make it happen.

I mean come on Lisa Salzer started her company LuLu Frost by making jewelry for her friends and then selling it. Her big break came when she called Barneys and they decided to pair up with her.

Nary Manivong started out by moving out to New York City with 200 dollars in his pocket and now is working on his new collection with Ally Hilifiger.

It can happen all you have to do is believe in yourself.

The event was filled with tons of goodies and shopping events such as, H&M and TopShop. I managed to get my hair feathered. I walked in the streets of NYC for what felt like hours. I literally could not find the fabric stores. I finally managed to find it after an hour or more. I kept passing by it,  all I had to do was turn left on 39th street and walk to 7 and 8 ave. Grr....Atleast I found it. I managed to buy 2 yards of a royal blue color and chiffon. I can finally begin making this dress, blazer, and skirt I have been wanting for the longest.

I'll post pictures of how to do it yourself when I start.

I also managed to visit my cousin in the streets of Brooklyn. She lives right by NYU. She dragged me to a part of her neighborhood where its all filled with people coming and going. It's weird because when we were walking to get there it was just a couple of people. When we got to our destination it was filled with vendors, restaurants, musicians, and tons of people hanging out. She told me that this part of where she lives is always crowded in all hours its where Andy Warhol used to live.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend for me.

I'm really determined now to focus my energy on landing an internship. I've started on my resume and now working on my cover letters. Hopefully, I land one.

One Day

So the count down is over finally and in one day I'll be in the city for the Teen Vogue Fashion University event. I am beyond excited and thrilled to be going! I just cannot wait to be able to meet people who are as passionate about fashion as I am.

I'm leaving at 12 and walking around the city to go visit my cousin who lives in Brooklyn. After I hope I can have enough time to visit cool record shops and vintage stores.

Fabric Stores!

I'm so gittery.

I don't think I'll be able to sleep today.

Oh Well...

Music

I really like Taylor Momsen's style and music. She has that grunge look that I would love to pull off but sadly it does not work for me.  Her voice and band are simply amazing. Check them out.

Coozy Warm Sweaters

I am so excited in about 8 days I will be going to the city for the Teen Vogue Fashion University event. I've been so happy I completely forgot that I have nothing decent to wear. I have to come up with something to wear that it doesn't make me look like a total reject.
Yesterday, I had a date with my boyfriend we celebrated the fact that we made a year and 8 months. I felt so bad I didn't really get him anything special. I only got him a card and chocolate. I'm planning to make it up to me for his birthday which is quickly approaching. Which reminds me that the holidays are approaching as well. Anyways, he got me a cute heart necklace engraved with the date we started dating and a jewelry box engraved saying "Memories will be made." I really loved his gift it was thoughtful and unexpected.

For some reason I can't seem to find a good oversized sweater at an effortable price. I want it in a gray or black color but have not been able to find it. Hopefully, when I go vintage shopping this weekend I can spot one.

Sunny Days

I can not believe that it's 84 degrees outside. This whole week is going to be hot hot hot. Why can't it be in the low 50's. Just when I thought we got rid of the summer it comes right back. Seriously.

For some reason I love pictures of old bikes or people riding them. I think its like the coolest thing ever.  However, the sad thing is that I would love to have an old vintage bike to ride around but I don't know how to ride a bicycle. I tried multiple times only to crash and fall. After I realized I was accident prone I gave up. Every summer I always  pledge to learn but all my efforts prove in vain. My friends even agree to help me but once I get started and put my feet on the pedals it all comes crashing down.

Perhaps for autumn I can finally learn. Until then I'll just wistfully look at my collage which contains numerous pictures of bicycles.....Sad....

Something's Wrong

Why?

Why can't I seem to finish my essay? I only managed to write three pages out of five. I suck.

I'm distracting myself again but I can't help it.

Why can't ideas fall from the sky...

I been on the computer since 12 and still not finished. Why did it have to be due tommorow? Just my luck.

Anyways,

Blog I'm currently looking at:

I like the illustrations from Garance Dore.

I forgot to add that I got bangs just yesterday.  I went to the salon after my classes were done and took the bus all the way down to the salon. I  waited about half an hour since the hair dresser was busy putting on extensions on a woman. I don't know what came over me but I had this urge in class to get bangs and so I went with my feeling. About five minutes later I emerged from the salon with bangs that I did not quite like. I can never seem to find a hair dresser that does what I ask. After trimming it down it looked better to me but it's still growing on me. I don't hate it anymore. It's just different I had not had bangs since I was in first grade. Awhile agooooo.
I also dyed my hair twice the same day and still didn't get the color I wanted.
I think I have bad luck when it comes to my hair.

Anyways I am getting back to work so I'll be back soon!

Obsession

I am beyond obsessed with the movie 500 days of Summer starring  Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. I actually made my friend get the movie for me because he owed me for my birthday. I like how the movie is shown in a realistic standpoint rather than being a mushy lovey dovey film.

It demonstrates that loves does hurt and you don't always get what you want.

The heartbreak of Joseph Gordon Levitt's character is agonizing to watch as it unrolls itself in the film. I also immensely enjoyed the soundtrack.

The soundtrack of the film:
  1. "A Story of Boy Meets Girl" – Mychael Danna and Rob Simonsen
  2. "Us" – Regina Spektor
  3. "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" – The Smiths
  4. "Bad Kids" – Black Lips
  5. "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" – The Smiths
  6. "There Goes the Fear" – Doves
  7. "You Make My Dreams" – Hall & Oates
  8. "Sweet Disposition" – The Temper Trap
  9. "Quelqu'un m'a dit" – Carla Bruni
  10. "Mushaboom" – Feist
  11. "Hero" – Regina Spektor
  12. "Bookends" – Simon & Garfunkel
  13. "Vagabond" – Wolfmother
  14. "She's Got You High" – Mumm-Ra
  15. "Here Comes Your Man" – Meaghan Smith
  16. "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" – She & Him
My favorite song from the film is "Hero" by Regina Spektor that song is like the climax of the film when everything goes crashing down for him. I also liked the song from The Smiths "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I want."

I started  listening to the Smiths from a book called "If I stay" by Gayle Forman from there  I was hooked. I know how to play a couple of their songs on the guitar.

Anyhow I highly reccomend this novel to any who is interested.

Things that I like...

I am currently in school taking a break from my five page essay. Technically, it's not a break but for some reason I can not seem to start it. So I decided to post what I like about the season and pieces that I find exceptional.

Autumn is a lovely time to break out those cozy sweaters, jackets, scarves, and hats. It is nice to feel that breeze and the cold morning air. My favorite moment is taking a stroll in the park holding your loved ones hand enjoying hot chocolate together.
