I was listening to the radio today on my way to school and they were talking about chivalry. It's funny how some guys think that being chivalrious is going a step back for a women's independence but other's think its poliet to do so. I think it's nice when a guy holds the door open for you and pulls out and in the chair. When a guy does that I automatically think what a nice gesture it is. But some people think that girls don't appreciate the geture and it's too "old fashioned." (Because it's 2012 now, and shouldn't be expected as much)  I don't think that it is old fashioned at all, and contrary to popular belief girls don't like a--holes. We like the guy who is courteous and can treat you with respect. What do you think, do you think chivalry is dead as they say?

This Thanksgiving feels so weird for me because a part of my family is moving down to Florida. So they will not be able to come up to celebrate with us. I'm going  to miss seeing them on a daily basis and reminiscing on the good old days. On another note, there was so much food that there was still a bunch left over for the next day. Before this outfit, I had on a white blazer but changed it last minute because me and white clothing don't mix well with food. Time for me to eat some pumpkin pie and put up my Christmas tree. Hope you guys are all enjoying your weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving

I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you guys are all enjoying the time with your loved ones. These pictures were taken awhile ago, when I went with my cousin on a whim to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Boy, was it packed. That was the first and only time I went, but it was a lot of fun seeing everything up close. Enjoy your day! There's a lot to be thankful for.

motivate motivate-me
I just started to read this book titled "100 ways to motivate yourself" by Steve Chandler. I've had this book for so long and never finished it. I always get sidetracked and leave things at the middle. Unless, its a college paper or something. But this time I'm going to finish reading it in its entirety. Every time I pick this book up and read the first few chapters, I'm always finding myself nodding to what he has to say and relating to it.

My favorite quotes that I have highlighted are,

"When we leave this world, we will ask ourselves one question: What's different? What's different because I was here? And the answer to that question will be the difference that we made."

"Personality is overrated. Who we are is up to us every moment."

"What you do is create a vision of who you want to be and then live into that picture as if it were already true."

I have loads and loads of books that I buy but never get to reading them. So I'm making my short term goal to finish reading all of them that I have acquired. Which will hopefully not take me that long. I remember when I used to go to the library every week with about ten books piled high and finish them all. And now I'm luck if I finish reading a college assigned novel. I think my problem resides in that I get too lazy for my own good. There's so much things I want to do but so little time, that they just get lost somewhere. Which is why I'm trying to change that.
In other news, Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I cannot wait to dig into all that delicious food. And help my mom of course in making it. Perhaps try baking from scratch, and hope that it doesn't turn into a mess like my icing did. I messed that up somewhere in the list of instructions. It's like every time I cook it can only turn out good on my off days and not when I'm actually trying to make it good. Anyways, hope you all have a Good Thanksgiving!

I don't know why people feel the need to hurt animals. It's one of the things I cannot tolerate, and it breaks my heart to watch and hear stories on the news about it. I just heard about how in Albama a dolphin had its tail cut off and another one was shot. The offender can only get up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. Really? There's something seriously wrong with that. I can't believe there's people out there who actually get a kick out of this, it's just sick. Animals are there to coincide with you, not to be mistreated. The below quote sums up my feelings on this matter.
"Life is life - whether in a cat, or dog or man. There is no difference there between a cat or a man. The idea of difference is a human conception for man's own advantage."

Love wearing comfy sweaters, especially now that its winter. Bought this one in H&M, since they were having a sale (buy one knit sweater and you get the other one for free.) Still a bit sick, but getting better. (My silly attempt to try to pose, epic failure.) Hope you guys have a good weekend!

My face yesterday after I realized my brother finally bought a toaster. My mom throw ours out years ago and we haven't bought one since then. So, imagine my delight to see one after a century or in a time far far away. Not that long, but its been awhileee. Why I'm I posting this? Well, mostly because its silly things like this that put a smile on my face no matter how mundane they may seem. (I can finally have toasted bread with dulce de leche, yum!) This week has been full of doing a bunch of homework and blowing my nose repeatedly with a tissue. (Yu-ck) And it's only a Wednesday, fuck. Pardon my language, I just want this week to be over with, it's been abit tiring. I have so much things I want to do such as paint, start illustrating, writing but I never get to it. How do people start and continue to? I get easily frustrated. This will be my early Thanksgiving resolution, if there is such a thing.  Anyways, is there anything that's been your high point of your week so far? I'd love to hear it.

Foggy Day

I woke up two days ago feeling sick and I still am at the moment. That's what I get for bragging about how I never get sick in the fall and winter. Darn, this weather. Everything here is back to normal, but taking a look at the aftermath of Sandy and  what it did to the trees made me think of south of New Jersey/New York where people have lost their homes and still have no power. It's sad watching the news and hearing about it. Donations are always welcome at the Red Cross. My family donated a bunch of old clothing and materials they didn't need. Every little bit helps!
In other news, I've been wanting to get a new camera but I also need a laptop  My camera now works fine although the flash isn't working. I have to take it in to get fixed, been so lazy to go to Best-buy. But I have my eye on the Canon EOS t4i or a pc/mac. What do you guys think I should go for? I'm in between both items. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
I've been listening to Christmas music. In fact my phone's background is a Christmas tree with snow coming down on it. This time of the season makes me so happy because all the holidays are coming up and it makes you feel all tingly inside. I can't believe its only Tuesday, so much stuff to do. Friday come by faster, please.

I watch far too much sitcoms/reality shows. It feels so nice to come home after taking classes and just turn on the television and laugh for a few minutes. Do you guys have any favorite sitcoms? Mine are King of Queens, Friends, Everybody loves Raymond, The Office, Big Bang Theory,New Girl, How I Met Your Mother and etc. I tend to quote sitcoms a lot with my family because it's a habit we have with each other. Where we just to turn to look at each other and ask "Where is that from?"  If I do that with other people, they just give you that look saying, 'What the hell are you talking about' And I just slowly back away from them.  In other news, if you guys are fans of Sarah Dessen her new novel comes out in June titled  'The Moon and More.'   I'm so excited! I've been a fan for ages and this time around I am going to definitely meet her. (I've been trying for years to write my own novel but its too difficult for me to get through the beginning.) Any tips for starting the writing process, I'd love the help. Have a great weekend you guys!

Mini Snowstorm

I'm finally back at home, it was fun being able to sleep at my cousin's house. But I'm glad to be back at my house in my room all snuggled up.  I hope you guys are all doing well.

1. I'm addicted to playing monopoly/uno even though I lose quite often. I've been playing more frequently to make time pass by faster in my house.
2. Going to the park.
3. Having a bunch of candles in my house in order to see in the darkness. I'm waiting for you light.
4. Spent the mornings this weekend painting for my boyfriend's birthday present. Didn't dry in time, but he still liked it. (Gir from Invader Zim)
5. Sleeping in late because I had no class until yesterday. (There was only about three other people when I actually attended class.)

Inspired Menswear Part II

I hope you guys are all well after Hurricane Sandy. I'm still without power and it really sucks because there's not much to do. I've just been doing well nothing, occasionally I go to my aunt's house and spend some time there bonding with my family. And drinking loads of hot chocolate since its cold in my house right now. It's so crazy watching the news and seeing how many people were impacted. My heart goes out to the people who are in dire need of help.
